Safely on tour by bike

March 12th, 2019

On Tuesday, March 12th, we could welcome Herrn Hartmut Dreßen from the "Verkehrswacht" Jülich at ICJ. He talk on rights and obligations of bikers in the town of Jülich.

Herr Dreßen started with an introduction to traffic signs. At even at the beginning, the audience ask a lot of questions to daily traffic situations that were all answered friendly by our guest.  He then took specific examples to explain the rights and obligations of bikers in detail. He also added some hints how to drive foresighted. His explanations were especially interesting for our members since many of them are regularly using the bike. He  pointed out several times that already §1 of the German traffic laws asks for the attention and consideration of all drivers and pedestrians. Finally, with an impressive experiment, the speaker showed the usefulness of wearing a helmet. This is not widely known since only 17% of the bikers wear it. After 1 1/2 hours, the audience thanked Herrn Dreßen for his  informative presentation with warm cheers.
