The International Club of the FZJ on new paths. 1. virtual international Coffee Treff of 31 January 2021

Even in times when the Corona virus affects social life in many ways, the International Club is active.

Accordingly, on January 31, 2021 at 3 pm, our traditional "International Coffee Treff" took place for the first time as a video conference. The idea came from our president Myriam Woischnik and Kay Stone. Myriam and the board then realised this idea in a short time. All members were invited by E- mail to this meeting and received the link for the access to the video conference.

At the beginning, our president welcomed the International Club members and explained the various plans, such as lectures, excursions and social meetings, which had been planned but prohibited due to the Corona situation. The English verbal interpretation was done in a proven way by our member Kay Stone who led through the virtual meeting. From America and England members were connected.

With a glass of champagne or an other drink we welcomed the New Year and wished to stay healthy and to have the courage to persevere. Subsequently, individual members reported on one or other of their experiences in 2020 and unanimously emphasised how much they had missed our club's diverse events. Some of the individual contributions were followed by animated discussions. Although there were some minor technical problems at the beginning, they were quickly solved by our internet experts. All members were very pleased about this virtual meeting and the fact is that the club has successfully entered a new era. Now it is essential to win new members for the growth of an attractive club. For this purpose, our president has suggested, among other things, a virtual meeting for Carnival, Sunday 14th February

Summing up: It was really a good start into the New Year.
